United Silicone’s Impulse HT ™ Dramatically Reduces Work-In-Process By Incorporating Decorating In-Line with Filling

Lancaster, NY, July 15, 2007.  The Impulse HT ™ High Speed Heat Transfer System, designed and manufactured at United Silicone, applies full-color heat transfer graphics to blow molded containers at an impressive rate of up to 300 containers/minute. The Impulse HT ™ allows product decorating to be integrated in line with the filler; virtually eliminating the need for work in process. This integration, along with rapid changeover from job to job, provides substantial benefits to the customer by lowering the costs of holding decorated inventory and reducing warehouse space.

The Impulse HT ™ has many unique features including an automatic profile teach mode, electronically controlled transfer stretch ratio, and servo-driven application technology. The dual head, multiple servo motor technology, provides fast and accurate decoration simultaneously on both sides of blow molded containers.  A laser-guided teach-mode automatically programs the container’s profile allowing for quick changeover from job to job.  An electronically controlled transfer stretch feature allows the transfer length to be adjusted digitally to provide accurate positioning on the containers. Consistent web tension is accomplished using an independent servo-motor on both the web pay-out and take-up spools. For operator interface, the Impulse-HT is equipped with an Allen-Bradley PLC and touch screen. Also, a built-in modem offers direct factory support for advanced diagnostics.

The Impulse-HT ™ is capable of applying heat transfer graphics which require pre and post flame treatment in addition to new flameless transfer technology. This complete decorating system allows for a safe, flexible and cost-effective decoration process right through the filling line.
